We earned our stripes in San Francisco, Kansas City,
Los Angeles, and Sacramento, but moved our studio to
a barn in the woods of Northern Callifornia where we
combine high tech design with a neo-backwoods lifestyle,
doing the work we know and love, for people we enjoy.

Max Seabaugh | graphic design, illustration, photography
Max Seabaugh is an illustrator and graphic designer who, after mastering traditional media—pencil, paint, and paper collage—was one of the first West Coast illustrators to use the Macintosh computer. He has taught illustration classes at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and San Francisco, California, and seminars at Stanford University. He was a designer, illustrator, and studio manager at Communications Design in Sacramento, worked at Barile + Garnas in Oakland, and in the corporate design office of Macy's California. He opened MAX Design Studio in San Francisco in 1984, and was joined by designer Laura Lamar in 1985. When not at his computer, Max enjoys cooking, music, photography, and western events.
After 14 years of working for high tech, corporate, publishing, and agency clients in the San Francisco bay area and nationally, Max and Laura moved their studio to Lake County, California, in 1998. Located at the northern end of California’s wine region, they now enjoy using their design skills to promote a wide range of local and regional small businesses, while still occasionally working at the national level.
